program
We race through the web with a constant “yes/no” button. We are looking for information that we think is relevant, even if it turns out to be useless. In this way, we create personalized information and give conflicting content less a chance. Algorithms are often blamed for this. “Echo chambers” have existed since people and social groups have existed. In everyday life, we are primarily interested in living up to our own identity. Knowing opinions repeatedly confirmed, suppressing or condemning others' opinions – this is good for the ego and has a similar effect to a drug.
We create a poem with all its metaphors and formal structures, with its codes and repetitions. We enjoy the melody and harmony of our narrative and look for resonances of it in our interpersonal interactions.
In this dance piece, choreographer Tiago Manquinho wants to place his own worlds, stories and their echoes in social spaces. Like the mountain nymph Echo, who wanted to declare her love for Narcissus, the act:on dance ensemble will echo “Poems” on “Rocks” and search for a common sound.
