program
With “Difference? What difference does it make”. the Landesbühnen Sachsen and HELLERAU want to develop a production that addresses issues of belonging and diversity in the context of different life experiences and, as a “Relaxed and Sensorial Adapted Performance”, enables the participation of autistic, disabled and non-disabled people in and on stage. Additional elements that respond to special needs in terms of haptic or audio-visual aspects, for example, extend the sensory spectrum and experience of the performance even for people without impairments.
The Tanzcompagnie der Landesbühnen Sachsen invites professional guests with disabilities, disabilities and special needs for the play, thus expanding into a mixed-abled ensemble. Under the artistic direction of the choreographer Wagner Moreira, the dancers work out biographical elements in direct exchange with each other, which are combined to form an overarching choreography. Moreira, who has already worked in various artistic and pedagogical contexts for institutions and independent productions throughout Europe, brings important experience in the field of inclusive and participatory work. In addition, various international experts for artistically inclusive work in the field of dance will be invited to preparatory workshops and masterclasses in the 2020/21 season. The co-production is intended not only to test new aesthetics on stage and make them visible, but also to drive forward the further opening of theatre houses for diverse ensembles and audience groups.
